Hi, big 58-year old Sweet fan here, first time on this forum. I am lucky enough to have a big selection of 'off air' recordings of BBC Radio shows going back to the 50s, 60s and 70s. I was randomly listening to a 1970 Tony Blackburn Radio 1 breakfast show with stand-in DJ Steve Merrick (since disgraced for child porn I understand!) and I was amazed to hear the unmistakable sound of Andy's guitar and then doubly amazed when Brian starting singing. I thought I had heard every Sweet track, but this was a cover of a Doors song called 'Love Me Two Times'. It sounded similar to the riff of 'Done Me Wrong Alright' and was perhaps the influence for that track? The DJ spoke over the first few and last few bars, but I have extracted the recording and it's in very good condition and sounds great with an excellent Andy guitar solo in the middle! I can't find anything about this recording anywhere on the Internet and wondered if I have uncovered a lost gem perhaps? Maybe this was an early session for the BBC because it doesn't seem to be logged anywhere as a single or album release. Can anyone help? If you'd like to hear the recording, I can oblige. Ade.
