I've seen the Andy Scott guitar for hire thread here and I was (still) wondering
what Mick did for a living when he wasn't in Sweet (1982-1985).
I've posted this question also about 2 years ago, but then a certain
ex-Sweet member who occasionally posts here too got, in one way or another
p1ssed off by this. (Remember?)
Trough this, my question wasn't answered to my satisfaction, so I'll try again.

Did Mick also do session work or something?

According to Brian's book, Mick was the most down to earth person when it came to finances etc. Maybe you are right Stevie.

Thanks, I've ordered the book (if you referring to "The man who sang Blockbuster") too.
But I haven't recieved it yet. (Can't wait though).

After Brian left Sweet, the Dutch press lost interest.
Not much Sweet coverage since then. Even when Brian died,
it hardly made the news over here.

In 1989 when Sweet played in Apeldoorn (broadcasted on national radio), several
story's about their lives after the (original) split were told by "experts" :
Andy had went solo and did session and production work (well, this was actually true).
Steve moved to the USA and was a real estate broker (?)
Mick didn't do anything in music and had some sort of production company (?)
Brian lost his record deal and was on the dole, later formed a new version of The Sweet.

Brian Manly says (often) what a lovely guy he was and I agree totally. But still NOTHING to mark his grave at the cemetery. Even the cherub had gone last time I was there. It REALLY upset me. ONLY the SWEET memorial BENCH nearby marks his passing. The greatest drummer of a generation and only a few people are privy to "the knowledge".

I'll be back there in a couple of weeks to stop and think of Mick, have a beer at his local, practice a couple of twirls, tell him how Bilston went etc.

See you there if you're doing the same.

I've taken a whole lot of the jokes from the joke thread on the non sweet related thread. It's Panasonique and Viggoeh do the nightshift. I've drawn 15 pictures of semi naked women (stewron and zabadek have been proofing them) and will be publishing it as a fundraiser for Sweet. Hopefully it will sell, if it does, first order of business is Mick's grave. I've heard two different stories, one is the family can't afford a headstone and one is they don't want one. Can someone tell me which is which and send me a link to a company that provides head stones? Steve Priest has already given the go-ahead for this project, and I haven't heard from Andy yet. If you want the link to the drawings, ask Stew. I'll leave it up to him if it's appropriate for the board.

If the book makes none or very little money, the proceeds will go to a bartab for a Sweet get together. Hopefully more than one person will be funded. Yes Dunc, you are at the top of the list.

We have enough talent on this board to create a beautiful statue, or an engraving, or temporary tatoo's or something that will commemerate the one and only Mick Tucker.

Mick appears on the album "Face another day" with The Monroes. Released 1985. Sold more than 250,000 copies in Norway. Also appearances by Andy Scott, Chris Bradford and Gary Moberley.

I agree Woody! A disgrace really!

Viggoeh: We did a collective effort in here some 5-6 years ago, to raise a monument for Mick Tucker at the churchyard where he's buried. This was administrated via Henrik's and Stewarts' dueful efforts (and there was a bit of a raffle that Henrik, John/VC 10 and LA/Cheryl also carried out, to raise money for it). Finally there was enough money to buy a bench with a plaque on it, which could be placed near Mick's grave where fans/people could come and sit in when they were around. (it also took some time to get everything in place; just with Brian's plaque there was some intricate bureaucracy at work before it was all in place.Henrik did a thorough work there!).

But if you succeed in raising money for a stone I'll be the first in line to congratulate you!

...I am under the impression that it was intential that Mick's grave was never properly marked, to discourage those who would wish to desecrate it due to his fame. Other celebrity's graves have suffered the indignation, as I'm sure you know. And besides, as the little cherub seemed to have disappeared, it sures seems to me that even his "veiled" marker wasn't safe from vandals. A noble effort to erect a proper marker, but who's gonna keep away those who wish to ruin it...?

I don't think that was all that was to it, Mary. There are examples where people don't vandalise graves of famous people.

Henrik and I left a pair of Rock Cafe Sticks on the grave and they were there for quite some time. VC10 let us know they had been respected for some time, but had eventually disappeared.

If you go there you can see how things can be removed quite easiliy, but next time I go I'll be leaving something a little more permanent. And the only person I'll defer to is Ayston. If she says she doesn't want a marker then I'll support her 100%. BUT I have waited a long time now for something to mark the resting place of THE GREATEST DRUMMER in my life.

It's ok for a "celebrated" few to know where the site is, but MICK was my drummer, he was YOUR drummer. If Ralf came over I'd happily take him to the sacred place, I'd do the same for any of you. Even Steve, Andy, and Frank would be at a loss as to where the exact place was.

Mick was the greatest drummer I acknowledge to have ever lived and he deserves a suitable, if simple, place of rest.
