The distinctive characteristic of the Sweet sound was always the vocal harmonies which were also used by Queen to best affect on A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. So was the intention to sound like a Zeppelinised Sweet? Or is it coincidence like Blockbuster/Jean Genie? Or were Queen harmonies derived from the Hollies and/or the Beach Boys?
Furthermore, does the line "So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye" as sung in Bohemian Rhapsody bear an uncanny resemblance to "So you think you'll take another piece of me" as sung in Action? Another coincidence?
The writing is on the wall.
So the question arises: Were Queen a bunch of winkers?
