Hope you notice from the photo, that he's playing bass - as he should be of course as on the original Big Bottom!

I just watched the Story of Anvil, it's interesting. They are a Toronto band and I read somewhere they are the role model for Spinal Tap.

I think Saxon were suppossed to be where Spinal Tap came up with manyof their ideas. I loved Anvil in the early 80's. Canada looks pretty cold in the film
Vig, hope you enjoyed it. I met the director who signed my old metal On Metal album.

I think the bit about one of the band's girlfriends becoming their manager was inspired by Ozzy & Sharon...?

The Stonehenge-part is based upon a Black Sabbath incident when they build a 'live-size' replica, that was to big to be used in most of the venues. It
was used once or twice in the USA and now rots away somewhere in containers in a US harbour.
All the changing drummers have to be inspired by Judas Priest. |

Andy played bass...... Freddie Washington is currently the bass player with Steely Dan's touring line-up so he played bass..... Justin Hawkins played a bass shaped like an aeroplane or rocket ship............ and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) is the bass player with Spinal Tap. So I guess that was four bass players. Keeping things in proportion there were about thirty women brought on stage to wave their big bottoms. Sounds like the right balance to me....... Darren

I don't know if any particular band, be it Anvil or Judas Priest or anyone else, is the band they are ripping the pee out of. I think its just a parody on all rock bands in general. The funniest story I heard about it though was that Aerosmith all went to see the film in a cinema somewhere and they all stormed out in disgust. I think thats nearly as funny as the story about
Sylvester Stallone throwing the TV out of a hotel window when he first saw his characature on Spitting Image.
Cheers. Ewan. GET OUTA MY F***ING WAY! |

Fantastic photo's, thanks. He looks to be having the time of his life.
Mick, as for Justin Hawkins, he's been clean for a good while now, and his band, Hot Leg, are very good. Anyone who liked The Darkness will love them. |

Fantastic! And to think, when I heard at Bilston that Andy was going, I considered asking my mate Big Pete to try and blag me in, but I thought ...naaah,
he's just started a tour with Thunder, he's probably busy, I won't bother him.
He carries out his duty
