Why doesn't Andy Scott Sweet tour UK?

If Andy thinks they won't get enough people to pay costs, why not go as support to someone like Status Quo?

SQ play to big audiences. Sweet would fit in nicely and the SQ audience would then realise Sweet are a great group.

Last year SQ had Manfred Mann's Earth Band as support, and this year they have Roy Wood.

Agree. I think Andy should have serious talking with such bands and show what the band are capable to do. Status Quo is an great example which would fit the band perfectly. The Status fans might have have been surprised what Sweet were/are like! Sweet/Purple, Sweet/Uriah Heep, Sweet/UFO, would fit in great with some 80´s rockbands as well and had definately got some new fans of it. Andy: Give Francis Rossi a copy of the bilston-gig and take a pint or 2 together. That´s a good start.

I remember saying something similar a few years ago after seeing Asia support Paul Rogers, Sweetlife had just come out and i thought they would have fitted in a gig like that easily. Alice Cooper tours most years, Sweet would be a fantastic support act for him, and a great chance for Andy to do the heavier stuff rather than a 'slippers' set.

I think any band would be very hesitant to have Sweet as their support because they know they'd be blown off the stage by them.

I do think though that they should do festivals like Glastonbury.

I agree with you there Ewan

Was watching Glastonbury last night, Neil Young was playing and i thought wouldn't it be great if Sweet played there, i think the crowd would be blown away.

Andy was actually asked this very question at the 'Devizes' party and his answer was; "Have you got a spare £100,000?"
To be 'support' act would be the best answer. I'm really surprised that Def Leppard haven't asked them in the past.
Alice Cooper would be the best thing ever, they've done it before.

I get better and better looking every day...... I cant wait for tomorrow!!

I don't like the sound of that, or support for Status Quo as they also supported SWEET back in the mid '70's.
Some one BIG but please not a 'lesser' band. Mr. Cooper would be spot on as they both have fans from all the same decades and Sweet would go down a storm. If I get the chance on the 6th December I'll ask him myself!

I don't see Sweet supporting either "Heaven and Hell" or "Judas Priest".

Right now, Whitesnake is supporting the Priest tour. I don't see the Scorps, either, as Woody suggested.

Halford's "Fight"? No.... that wouldn't happen either....... believe me......

If you are talking about rock festival lineups, then the one thing you would be disappointed to hear is Halford wouldn't reform Fight for a festival.... especially just one. He is VERY busy with Priest right now.... with the new "live" CD to hit shelves soon..... which will be late July.
