I have a few pics from the Lyceum gig in January 1981 that I took from the second row. They're not brilliant, but I did scan and send a couple of them to
Stewart a few years ago, but I'll scan all of them and send them to Stewart....... if anyone's interested???

I know exactly what you mean, I grew up listening to Sweet during the 70's. I'm now nearly 46 and feel very lucky to have seen them at Hammersmith in
1978 and at the Lyceum in 1981

I was wearing Andy's leather trousers from the Lyceum show only last night at the Bilston gig, can't believe they fit!
Almost 29 years old and yes, I did wonder if the seams would hold out. The jacket and waistcoat are way too small though. They're all on my homepage as if you didn't know? Pawl.
I get better and better looking every day...... I cant wait for tomorrow!!

Earlier tonight, I was reading the review of the Lyceum gig from Sounds, Melody Maker and NME, and the only truthful one was from Sounds! Melody Maker was
going on about the end of the gig when Andy broke up his guitar, and then threw 2 inflatable guitars into the crowd, but the reviewer called him 'Mick
Turner'!! and described throwing the guitars 'violently' into the crowd...... with people like that writing reviews it's no wonder the critics
did them no favours and Melody Maker ended up on Desolation Boulevard, near the Waters
Edge!
The guy who wrote that review was obviously not watching the gig but was playing Eye Games with Lady Starlight. Either that, or he was a short bloke who couldn't see the gig cos of the Tall Girls! He must have been a Restless, Sixties Man, who like the Man from Mecca probably had a Little Willy, and knew Sweet F A about music. I expect he disappeared Into The Night with a Breakdown. The critics thought we all came down with Yesterdays Rain. and as they got no Action, they gave Sweet Hard Times which no doubt they thought was Funny Funny. It's a Rock and Roll Disgrace how Sweet were treated by the press they should be Strung Up in the Windy City! but we all know Sweet were A Cut Above The Rest and a very Levelheaded band. The critics suffered an Identity Crisis and were just jealous of Sweet constantly being in the Spotlight. all of this is purely Off The Record of course! lol

Here's a review I remembered from Woody's old website of the gig:
The LYCEUM - January 1981 - a review by Jordy
I had been buying Sounds (the Rock Music weekly paper), ever since I had found out there was a review of Sweet's Hammersmith gig in it.
Unfortunately I had missed it but continued to buy it every week anyway.
It was through Sounds that I found out Brian had left in '79, and apart from the (very) occasional album review Sweet were never
mentioned. Then at the end of 1980 I saw something to make my heart stand still: an advertisement for Sweet at the Lyceum Ballroom on 4th January 1981.
