Hello all. First thank you all for the emails and orders. The book is doing brilliantly . It WILL be picked up by a chain of book stores in london BUT till the ink is dry on Tuesday I cant say too much. As for details of the book ? It is a 200 page experience so it is difficult to explain in a few words . I will add a synopsis to the Somehitwonders site for you all . ok. As a taster here are some chapter headings and snipits ....Oh Little Star of Hamilton ......Brian discovers he is adopted and joins the navy..........Off to see Mr Mellin..........Brian knows a contact and gets a recording deal .............Slow motion ( cant you guess !!!) Lollipop man and the Paper dolls.........the boys get a tour with the once famous girl group..............Get on the line --all you ever get from me ( again you guys and gals will know these ) .. Great Scott its Batman and Robin .......Phil Meets Nick and Mike and a long haired person plays guitar at an audition and gets the job ! ............Torpey:Sweet's Pete Best ...........a page for ole Frank who decided not to re join as .... well the band would never make it would they ??........... ok guys another order just arrived . I will have a News page on the "Somehits" site next week too BUT I will only list things that are "in the bag" ..Three radio staions are looking at doing competitons etc..... .. a local book store in London will take it . A Rock publication is trying to make a place to feature it . On the site there is a page for the first 100 people , your books will be numbered and signed . Its more than half gone now .....with ten days till the book comes out ! ................. there are pics a plenty in the book. there are discographies and not just the usual kind ! I dont want to spoil it for you! Like all of you , I have never held a copy of this book in my hand , as an author I can tell you that it is an emotional experience to do so . I get my first copy next week and will immediately start sending them accross the world so the early birds will have it before it is out ! Look to the site for the synopsis . It may be there by this evening . Before I go ........I wrote this book purely because no one else did. Had some great writer done the job first , well then who would I be to even try? BUT after forty one years no one had and I used my perogative as a life long Sweet fan and also as a writer. I have an overveiw which allowed me to say ... Knock "stairway to the stars" though in private I love the song...........so I had a responsibility to be truthfull and sensible. I hope that what shines through is a feeling that I will share with you all.......a love of Brian, Mick,Steve and Andy....of Chinn and Chapman and Wainman, of squeeely guitars and layered harmonies and most of all...........three feet of long blonde hair that said I AM A STAR. Enough emotion! I must get back to my site and your orders. Out there the General public too will love this book, my original publishers "Helter Skelter" said ... your too like an essay on sweet, make it a story , dont give the game away and make it so that the man in the street who just remembers a few songs will understand it " they were right , of course. you lot know every thing about sweet but I want to tell those who dont ! Hello . Thank you all so much for your messages. I spent two years on 'Planet Sweet' writing this book. I cry every day when i read all your lovely e mails. I had to tell the truth as I understood it . It is sad I agree but HEY>>>>>>>>Brian WAS at Bilston last week. In our Hearts and ... he sang there too. we sang for him. I have yet to hear from the Connolly's. I never had a reply from Andy. I understand they were apprehensive. No one was carved up in my book. From your comments so far it seems you all agree. Though I dont intend to, I can die a happy man now. Forever more "A" fair account of The life and times of brian and Sweet is available to the public. My dilema was finding the middle path........as a Psychotherapist I know people go off the rails for many reasons. Sanity is a gift......musicaly I was always going to write a hurah for Chinnichap. It gave us the Sweet. However, standing at Bilston the other night listening to Sweet fanny Adams tracks it became clear all over again just what a special record that is to this day. I hope that you all understand too that I was duty bound to tell of the night BC was smashed, mistook me for a girl and got kicked out of a club. He got lost. He found his way again. That was the point. I think for myself the really sad thing was the documentary. I never saw it in the 90s but Cos gave me a copy when i was writing the book. When I saw what they did to him I had to hold myself to stop the sobbing. From then on I knew that I would not stop till I had put Brian Connolly REALISTICALY where he belonged. Not in a council house, not on the dole, and not an idiot but a BRAVE old boy who sang his Blockbuster almost right to the end. PS I thought that Bilston was the best show I have ever seen with Andy. I thought that Peter the singer was incredible. Im not a true fan like a lot of you guys ( probably why i could navigate the book) but I considered it a privalege to be in that crowd. I never saw Andy so at ease with an audience or so funny. Im sorry if he doesnt like the book, ill be delighted if he does but either way I wish him much love and all the best , he is a trooper and as proffesssional as you can get. AND ..... he gave me a special gift when i was 12.... Good Time Fanny! will some one shut this author Up I hear you cry ! bye for now Brian X
