Something else that always sticks in my memory as a 'young' Sweet fan (1973, I was 13 years old) was when I used to walk home and then back to school
at dinner times from Brune Park County High School. I always used to pass a certain house every day. They always had the widows wide open and almost every time
I went past, they were blasting out a Sweet single! Hell Raiser always seemed to be their favourite choice. Never ever found out who they were or anything else
but they sure liked their Sweet music on a daily basis and they played it bloody loud too.
Ah, it only seems like yesterday!
I get better and better looking every day...... I cant wait for tomorrow!!

Sweet most certainly have changed my my music listening life, i listened to Andy sing "where do Ya Go" today along side Steve Grant and loved it.
Never has an artist/artists filled me with such excitement with their music. I know i keep saying similar things, but every time i hear something new from Andy
and Sweet, i can't help myself sharing my joy |

This probably sounds a bit daft or strange.. but I think from the very moment Ive listened to Sweet it always makes whatever Im doing more enjoyable....I think
its the way they performed their songs was just sooo powerful and electrifying they put so much energy into it.. its like I cant very often just sit or lay and
do nothig or sit ad read a book... B|ut when i stick my ipod on and put sweet i could sit there for hours and just sing along to mself in my head obviously or
just go sleep... And well the book thing like the biography on brian obviously interested me aloty so i sat at home for a good hour each day to read it!!!! all
you need is a little bit of sweet to get you by your day!!

Today they played The Ballroom Blitz on radio 2 in a program something called like golden oldies, I was working in my office (as workshop manager) and heard it
starting. I went to the radio in the workshop and turned the volume wide open. They all looked at me like I came from mars and I shouted "well this is The
Sweet"
To my great surprise, a few lads (Young and old) started to sing together with the record. They told me later that they always liked this song and some didn't know who sang this. Afterwards we had a coffee and I told them some story's about my memories from that time The Sweet was popular. Some could still remember and I never had a better audience. We agreed to do a Sweet day in our workshop. They still changing lifes |

You know I was picking up 'Scott' when that came on the radio? Steve Wright in the afternoon on Radio 2.
We had Seasons In The Sun by Terry Jacks then Sugar Baby Love by the Rubettes and then The Ballroom Blitz by SWEET, fantastic..........I wound down the windows and turned it right the way up!! Most enjoyable. Pawl.

Went down to the local last night, when i walked in the sound of "Man with the Golden Arm" was playing, this was followed by the rest of the Album.
Then when i thought the night couldn't be more perfect we had, "SFA". The landlord has such great taste in music, he keeps a fine Ale as well

That is quite INCREDIBLE Sarah!
What! They played the whole of Mick's drum solo in the pub? WOW. What did the regulars think of that then?

panasonicq wrote:It all started last boxing day, a couple had just bought the hotel in the village, i was down there for lunch and Simon the new landlord offered to run me and the kids home. he stayed for a drink and noticed my computer background was the cover of SFA. We then started talking about Sweet, he hadn't listened to them for years and i had only just discovered them. A few weeks later i was in there for lunch with the kids again and he had bought a sweet compilations cd. Since then his collection has grown, along with mine. In the bar all the music comes from his mp4 plugged into his system thingy(too technical for me, lol) It has a huge amount of Sweet alongside the usual scottish tourist music, you can have Windy City, followed by Strip the Willow, lol. Most of the time people have no idea who it is playing on certain tracks, they only know the Blitz etc, it's great to see the suprise on their faces when you tell them who it is
As for MWTGA, you get heads nodding and feet tapping at the bar. We had one embarrassing moment when the alternative lyrics on the sound bite for Strong Love came on, the landlord is a bit more carefull now

As usual, I was down my local boozer tonight and a guy from the other side of the bar suddenly comes out with "You look like that bloke, Brian
Connolly"
He was a right idiot from Durham. A real dickhead. He did absolutely nothing for Southern and Northern relations. But he did bring Sweet up into the conversation totally out of the blue!!

Well well well, as it happened, I went to the pub today with most of my family. Mostly they have a booky there to bed on the horse racing. It is great fun
until today.
When we were all in the betting mood, they played in the lounge "The sixteens". A lot of people that know me started to talk to me and told me how much they liked the Sweet. But There is one person were I always have problem with. He have to be negative in everything people like. He started to tell me that the biggest %%!! band ever was The Sweet and that Alice Cooper was and is the greatest ever, much bigger than the Sweet. That could well be, but nobody has to tell me that and I am sorry as much as I like Alice for me there is no comparison in between the two. As he works for Renault I told him that next time he want to talk to me, make sure you are not working for a cheating piece off %%!! like Renault. (for who knows about formula1). I have enough of people like him. I can't do with I know better people. The Sweet is part of most of my live and I was never ashamed of that. I understand Pawl very well and I also can do without the dickheads and let me enjoy the Saturday afternoon pint. |

I was in this 'gadget' shop today and they very nicely decided to talk about "big hair" then moments later whilst waiting to pay in CEX a guy
quietly tried to say to his female friend, "Hey, look, Rod Stewart". Nobody got hurt, It's all a part of growing up and being British!
Makes me laugh some times actually and yes please Sarah, I would love to come and visit your local if it's as good as you say it is???
