Hello craig, (and all ) i remember you clearly, you were one of the very first people in the world to buy the book! It is 14 days to oz by 2nd class . the cost is 4 pounds. (ouch) i decided to make the postage on the book a flat 2 pounds. so i loose on USA canada and oz but i gain on uk . I loose 40 p on europe too. However If I was in it for the money Id have written about Jacko or Maddona etc ! your book was posted on 18th. so it is probably on the beach drying itself right now. ! Though you were 4th or 5th customer, we stepped out of turn to send all the US orders at once with a pal who went to New York. He posted them there. to have sent your book 1st class to oz would have meant it was a total loss to me and ive now sold a further seven down there . sit tight mate, it must be nearly there. Oh ps the books were only printed on 12th june even though i took orders from 5th onward. ................next question Book stores. I have gotten it stocked in london at soho books charing x road and Foyles on Manette st. Also Movie and Tv books in Borehamwood and the Kilburn Book store. 80% of sales are from the web site. The return from a book store for me is .........two quid........yup.......the book can be ordered from any book store but will take some days to arrive etc........its only me here ! They wont stock it for several reasons , one of them is very hard,,,,,,,,,,,,,brace yourselves sweet fans.........demand.........The Sweet is 41 years old. some stores offered to stock ONE copy. I refused as it is not worth my time to cover a store with one book on sale at 9.99...........take off cost and their cut and ill get 2.40. if they actually sell the one book. There has been no money spent on publicity. To get it featured etc costs many thousands and most publishers did not feel they could get thier money back.
However, soho books took six.....sold six....took another six. etc. There are things in the pipe line, a books shelf life is six months, so I can tell you that the book is 90 % likely to be 'book of the week' on a radio show very soon. when I know for sure I will let you all know.
Also Steve Preist sent me a message to say he approves it to go on his web site. Anyone in the world can order it from a book store, it has an ISBN no but it will still come from my living room . It is also on amazon UK and Germany. Im very pleased so far. my bottom line was always , how much would I be prepared to spend and loose for Brian, Andy ,Mick and Steve ........ Ive made 25% back already. You see if Waterstones took it , they would ... take two per store, on 'sale or return'. what that means is, I kinda lend them the books ... if they sell them I get two or three pounds, if they dont... i have to go and collect them and take them back to my living room. so im picking the right stores, stores that sell cult type things. Thats why the sci fi store in Borehamwood was good...lots of Dr Who books etc , we sold three sweet books there last week. i hope ive explained how hard it is to sell a book ! fear not....Im like a dog with a bone. another seven went today. This has been very hard and expensive but also .......one of the most wonderful moments of my life. 200 books in three weeks is very good and its just a start but Sweet is a neiche to say the least. Ive loved signing all your books and going to book stores and seeing it has sold. thanks to you all so far . Brian
