Dave Ling has got his copy and has posted a note on His diary page..

Blimey, maybe I should start some sort of rock 'n' roll library? Today's postbag haul included a signed, numbered copy of The Man Who Sang Blockbuster, a biography of Brian Connolly, by Brian Manly (published by www.somehitwonders.co.uk). As legendary frontman of The Sweet, Connolly was a boyhood hero, so I can't wait to wade into that one.'

hi mr pawl. I had 3000 printed. ( gulp) Im selling on average six per day from the web. Also perhaps one or two from shops. Its harder to tell from shops. One way im marketing it is to go on you tube and look up a sweet video. any knowlegable or complimentary comment on a sweet video is then followed up with a message and a link to either the add or the german documentary ive had done. out of perhaps ten messages ill get one or two sales. This is just the start. FIVE rock publications are trying to arrange reviews , interviews or competitions for the book . I also stood outside We Will Rock you the other night and sold five copies to the queen fans as they left. ! Unfortunately I could not get many people to talk to me for the book . I think they just thought I was no one. So At present I dont know if Brian's family know about the book. Ive tried to pass on messages etc but have never had a reply . The only person to reply was Steve Preist. Frank Torpey was great. No Tuckers replied when Frank tried to e mail them . My chances in future increase with every book sold and magazine interview. However..... Im a Psychotherapist.......I remain the same Brian. 1 book or 1 million books ! Im just Brian. I doubt I could write a book about Mick without talking to his folks and quite honestly .... I did an experiment a year ago while in California. It was a test of the Connolly factor. I (along with Snowy my small fluffy hound) put on you tube a Brian song and an Andy song. The brian song immediatley trounced the andy song and still does to this day. it gets double the hits. Quite frankly , Id go for the andy myself . (it was good time fanny) point is a Book with Brian on the cover has spontaniously sold 165 copies within a week of release.......well alright I worked really hard but ..........Brian Connolly sells. Poor Mick , it would be a very small project. Having said that........I could do print on demand ! Thats one reason why the book is constructed as it is. To honour each mamber of the band. Ok another author ramble... but before I go , yes it was me who put Magic Circle and Dont you know a lady on you tube last year , introduced by snowy . I was in California finnishing the book and got bored and so did the connolly factor experiment . brian

It is a common subject in fiction when presenting scenarios involving time travel and with "what if" scenarios where one storyline diverges at the moment of a seemingly minor event resulting in two significantly different outcomes.

Over half way through the book and just a couple of comments without giving anything away.

1. How different could things have been if Brian had had access to some sort of Detox centre like the priory and Psychotherapy? I know he was in denial but the butterfly effect lets you imagine what could have happened - check out the movie of the same name!

2. Sweet had realised that without Chinn Chapman, there would have been no Sweet as we know it. So, they would have continued the theme set by songs like Blockbuster, Hell Raiser, Ballroom and Rampage for a few more years rather than going off track with songs like Turn it down.

3. Therefore Mud's Dynamite would have been taken by Sweet - not a great song but then they would have got Tiger Feet! Rampage would have been number one followed by Tiger Feet. As a 12 year old, this would have made my year. I am trying to imagine Sweet's version of Tiger Feet..........

4. Having continued with songs that made them ( Chinn Chapman ) and become even more famous they would then have started to diversify and had a career to rival Queen. If only............!

Yes, fascinating

We all like to play the What If game, don't we, from time to time!

That is assuming he could have been sorted out - look at Amy Winehouse!

But they wrote TID as well, so I don't understand this one...

I have often thought the butterfly effect is a good way to look at things!! but then again it is false reality!!!! you could for instance say that brian DID go in the priory and he stoped his heavy aswell as stopped his drink WHICH he did anyway but whta if it was just his fate that he was going to die young..no matter what you do or how you do i think your life is planned out before you are even born and when your time is up its up but you have a path to go on and you make choiuces. SO i just thing things happen for a reason.. I mean what if MUD got with chinn ans chap and they made the reords ..and then sweet came soon after.. would they have been as successful?? I think personally SWEET have done far BETTER than MUD!! So with that in mind I am greatful.. but i do wish things were different for Brian!

I still don't have my book, though I've got a mail, saying that it was shipped the 15th/16th of June, so before the gig. Now we got the 28th and still nth......Are you sure you sent it, Brian????????? I know I live in Barcelona, but does it need SUCH a long time??????

I just looked and your book was posted last saturday (20th) maybe it diddnt make the post that day and so would have waited til Monday. so far you are the only one not getting so fingers crossed. If you dont get it by Thurday Ill send another . I feel for you. The official date for the book was sun 21st june. I got many orders out before then but they came in much faster than they could go out so a queue formed . currently im sending out within three days of getting an order . It will be great when you get it ...promise. Brian

That's good news!
I just ordered a copy and I really hope it'll be here by the time I go on holidays to the South of France 'round the 20th of July. Lavender fields, sun, some great wine and food, and a couple of good (let's hope) books to read. Things could be worse.

but I think YOU should request some book shops like WATERSTONES WHSMITHS, THE WORKS, POWER PLAY and other shops if they would sell yoour book to me it sounds like the best thing to do I think you will do well with it too!!
