Hmm, 15" can't be from "the kit". Must be another one.

Mick's "Missing" Ludwig | #27 | |||
|
Advice from Mick's daughter Aiston is that she would love to see the kit on display in a Hard Rock Cafe or donated to a charity for underprivelged musical students. So, if the current possessor of Mick's Ludwig kit ever reads this please contact me and perhaps we can chat off-line to make that happen. No comebacks or recriminations.

That would be great ---- Pawl, wasn't there someone you mentioned on here recently interested in setting up a Sweet display for a London Music Museum or something?

Actually you reach a point where, with subtle arranging you can fool your wife into thinking the kit in the study has always had that many toms and that many
bass drums. So where's the gretch then? That'll be the "Hell Raizer Kit" circa 72/73. I'm not buying... just a good topic.

My friends have seen it and taken a photo for me. I shall reveal all later but it's not far from me and will hopefully visit it for myself sometime.

Cool. But you're in Milton Keynes. Isn't that famously near everywhere? So it could still be anywhere. But make sure you visit it.

Good work John- I'd love to see a photo of the Gretsch kit. Speaking of the famous chrome Ludwig I'm surprised no-one's picked up on my avatar
which IS Mick's snare from that kit.

Done it! Here it is, in humble surroundings...
The Gretsch "Birdland" kit, bought by MT in 1972. Made in the mid 1950's, to commemorate the "Birdland" Jazz Club in New York. Only 50 ever made and 1 of only 13 known in existance today. More famous as being skin bashed in Hellraiser!

OOOh Nice. Looks like it is being looked after nicely in a retirement home for drum kits. Nice work John. I suppose the owner can trace it's history from Mick? ( Not quuestioning the authenticity just how it came into their ownership) Well done Detective Tom Tom.
